Mission trips are where First Congregational’s commitment to loving the world beyond our walls becomes most tangible. Our mission statement calls us to confront poverty, isolation, and exclusion — and this ministry puts those words into action, sending our youth and adult volunteers into communities that need exactly what we have to offer: willing hands, open hearts, and the conviction that faith without works is just a good feeling.

Each summer, our youth and adult volunteers head out on a week-long mission trip to serve communities across the country. Students entering 9th grade through age 20 are invited to join this meaningful and often life-changing experience. From New Mexico to New Jersey, we’ve seen how small acts of service can make a big difference.

Since 2007, we’ve partnered with Group Mission Trips to repair homes, build relationships, and grow in faith together. Through creative (and fun!) fundraisers, our congregation makes it possible for everyone to participate.

This summer, we will return full circle when we host a workcamp in Wallingford, serving our own community with the same spirit of compassion and teamwork.
